Here's another cut and paste for you all, sorry again. But I am hoping that this will help explain my point of view about single-payer nationalzed health care benifits in this country. There really is a chance that we could switch over, save money and get better service than what we are currently allowing ourselves to suffer.

It's up to the states?? or do you think that is a lost cause as well?

Aunty, I have to agree with that, I wish people could "wake up" to the fact that our current health care policy is a joke, and so many other countries have the single payer system that is far superior than what we currently have. But I guess the analogy of the CR dams (damns) is fitting, we won't see a change in that area.

Fishpolelease, I don't think you should feel you need to apologize for a cut and paste article. I do it all the time. I'm lazy, my excuse. Why waste time paraphrasing something already said. Besides it seems to have some irritant value for the smug ones. The ones that think their words and ideas have never seen the light of day before. rofl

Aunty M, you said something about logical rail... in an earlier post. Damn, there is much we agree on, if sparring with you wasn't so much fun I'd join up. It has been known for decades that steel on steel, i.e rail is the most efficient way to move freight. However, the trucking supporters were better lobbyists and managed to get the Federal government to regulate many railroads into bankruptcy. They were forced to charge rates that made them noncompetitive with the trucking industry. Stupid, but thats the American way in many cases.
Oh yes. Blow the damn dams if they don't have viable fish ladders. Even the Grand Coulee needs to have fish ladders. Hell it's only money. The government hand is always in a deep pocket. right?

Rail is so much nicer. I remember how efficient, effective and frugal it was to travel Europe by rail. Anywhere in the city, anywhere in the country, anywhere in the continent and then some. America, I think will be forced at some point to consider a mass transit alternative as oil prices rise out of control and financial reach.
