Yup. Seahawks signed Edgerin James and will release T.J. Ducket to make room. Kind of suprising because Ducket was a sure thing on short yardage. Oh well lets see if the 31 year (uh oh) guy can do any better.

This is an upgrade over Duckett..James is a very good pass blocker and has pretty good power for his size. This new zone blocking will cater to our backs style. We should use one of our # 1 picks next year on a top notch back.

This all presumes that the OL can stay healthy, plus adapt to a new system, plus generally not suck...

IMO the problem ain't with the backs, it's up front.

I like the move, overall.

I thought Ducket was money in short yardage situations, but maybe the coaches will use Owen Schmitt with the heavy package. Some of us have the opinion that any back over 200# should be able to gain 2 yards. I also think that they did this because of the weaknesses with the line. I mean if you are going to have a mediocre OL then you should have a good pass-blocking RB and Edge is a way above average pass blocker. Hasslebeck will need plenty of protection this year.

I think Edge will be a good fit on passing downs (see above), and he is a good receiver. Sorry for Ducket because I liked him, but our strength yet again will be our passing game, because the talent is all there. We need protection to make it happen though.

Edge will be in on a lot of 2nd and 5 or less, or 3rd and long. He gives you a couple of dimensions that Duck did not posess.

Yea the OL is what opens the holes and protects the QB. The Hawks not getting off to a great start on the OL, Big Walt is out for who knows how long, Chris Spencer tore his quad and wont be back until several weeks into the season. Max Unger is promissing but a rookie. Locklear is playing left tackle now but has been playing right tackle his entire carreer. He coughed up two sacks in the pre-season game against Denver's small line. The hawks need get another lights out, put'em on their ass left tackle.

Deals not done yet, Jame isn't in Seattle, just is agent...Also Duckett is still on the roster....

Nothing official yet...most likely it will go down soon..

They need to trade two of their receivers for a good Guard or Tackle

Nobody in their right mind trades OL for WR.

There might be some later signings of OL as we get closer to the end of training camp and rosters have to be reduced.
