I dig stuff like this. I'd like to take a drive up to see it. If anyone sees what ship it's on could you post it? (I don't believe it's on the Blue Marlin, I think that's a file photo.)

In checking marinetraffic.com the Blue Marlin is currently in the Carribean but there is a vessel identified as SBX 1 now approaching Neah Bay (entrance to the Straight of Juan de Fuca) from the SW. Current speed 5.6 kts course of 57 degrees. Apparently being towed or escorted by the Lindsey Foss. Hope to be able to see it from my place in the morning. Pretty cool.

Thanks EBob. That's why I didn't think it would be on the Blue Marlin. In looking at the other Dockwise fleet on Marine Traffic there were only a few of the smaller ones that hadn't listed a location in some time. Because it's military stuff you would think they wouldn't allow the AIS to be turned on.

I'd still like to see the Blue Marlin sometime. I couldn't make it up last time it was in Seattle. Seeing one of these others will still be cool.

A quick Google search shows some pretty good pictures. Looks like it has it's own propulsion system so it's not on a another vessel this time.

It has its own propulsion, it is a semi-submersible oil drilling type platform. It is coming here for upgrades to it propulsion system. It is another Boeing product. I worked on the Sea Launch system for Boeing which also uses a similar oil drilling type platform, but used for launching commercial type satellites.

You can track the progress of SBX 1 by going to clicky here
currently approaching Port Angeles

Rumor has it that the City of Fife bought it for generating more funds through traffic tickets. It seems the cops and the cameras just aren't generating enough money.

This is a excellent radar, should I used this type of radar for my private cargo?
