Wipe, etc. doesn't need quotes as it is a mainstream verb/word used to describe erasing a hard drive disk.

"Wiping" is in quotes because it is a nontechnical term, computer experts like myself generally use the more technical term of "delete fukking everything" or DFE for short. Wiping is what you do to your ass. Anyway, with full disk encryption you don't need to erase/wipe/DFE on your hard drive, you just forget/lose your encryption key. "I can't recall my password" or even better "My hardware encryption key device broke/was lost/stolen/ect. when you seized my server" sounds much better than "I erased all the files with a military grade forensic file shredder."

I worked at Maxtor for 4 years and we made HDD's. Class 100 clean room Bunny Suits and all (I was a once proud man!  ). Then another 8 years spent at MS. There is no such thing as "wiping" a disc clean unless the drive is physically destroyed. If Hillary's drives are still around, they can get at least get some partial data back. However, these are the Clintons we are talking about here. Those drives have been magnetized, shredded, melted and sunken off shore right next to Vince Foster.

Agreed - but only as long as secondary & tertiary partitions are also addressed which is not something Joe Public would know about. I would think Hillary's IT folks are up to snuff and I guarantee you that the drives were physically restored. Trust me, Maxtor could still get at least some of your data even after a full "wipe" via a tertiary partition. But why the hassle when a hammer or junk microwave or .308 is guarenteed and way more fun? Anyway...what difference at this point does it make?

The "woodstove wiping method" is actually the most secure. After priming with Doug Fir, I use oak or ash for the main burn.
