Got a wild hair last night and decided to go out lingin' in my Darth Vader boat. Buddy and I fired off bait-wrapped K-16 Kwikfish and both got keeper lings in no time! By the time Miss Kid Sauk figured out I was gone and that there was a big hole in the carport where the boat normally sleeps, I had already returned with Ling in fish box and my buddy was already headed home with his!

BTW, use your oldest, nastiest, out of tune junker Kwikfish because those damn toothy lings will chew up a plug beyond recognition. Use a cannonball weight or bank sinker rigged on a dropper so you can bounce bottom, troll slow or cast and hang on! Don't use trebles either, I just used a 5/0 Vision Siwash off the tail. Taking hooks out of a fanged Ling is not fun with trebles so keep that in mind and try a single Siwash.

Sorry if I exposed anybodys Ling lure secret but I could hardly believe it myself! Oh yeah, sorry Bob, but there is no Wait...wait....wait...NOW... with Ling Kwikfishin' it's more like "wham, bam, gawwwddd DAMMMMM!!!!" Try it, you'll like it wink

Help! He's going to bite me!

Look at those chompers! Put yer finger in there, whydontcha? laugh

The fish appears dark in the photo after being iced down overnight. It was actually carrying the typical mottled-brown spots with tan ling coloration, however, I couldn't get Miss Kid Sauk to take the picture last night since she was pissed that I showed up late smelling like Sardines and Lingcod! flog

Im always afarid to do it that way. What if the fish cops say your salmon fishing out of season. I know a guy that was said he was ticketed for using a dart for halibut but got the ticket for salmon fishing out of season.....Is there any truth to his story?...DJ

Sparkey, that's Miss Kid Sauk as in "Bite your tongue, boy, or I'm gonna show you what they do to little boyz like you in prision!" wink eek

Bigdog, thanks, I'm getting my size back quick and wolfing down food like a ling cod through a kelp bed, or is that a rock pile wink I think I'm going to start training with Sparkles, all 120 pounds of him. Might be nice to use him as a curling bar eek

As far as lingin' in the greater Seattle area goes, all I have to say is that they are everywhere! I won't get too specific on the exact locations, dont' need to just as long as you are near rocks and/or kelp, but I will say to go late since lings will not feed as agressively in shallow waters with bright sunlight...hint hint

I agree with the fact that a warden could pop you for targeting salmon when running Kwikies for lingers, but the same thing goes for using whole herring which I get a lot of lings on as well. Lingcod are just mean critters and anthything live or wounded-looking will not last long in their presence. beer
