Anybody have an idea how much time we will need to drift down the Skykomish starting in Sultan and ending in Monroe?

Good Fishing, Darin

That drift should take a full day. If you are short of time, there are 4 boat ramps from Sultan to Lewis St in Monroe.

It's about 6ish miles from Sultan to Ben Howard. About 8 if you go all the way to Lewis St. and about 8ish miles of river from High Bridge in Gold Bar to Sultan.

I'll might head out to the Sky tomorrow for a little boonin' in my buddies sled. Fishing on the Sky has been sucky as of late and we only got 2 last Saturday. Should be plenty of fish in the system, but out of about 30ish boats last Sat., we (read me wink ) were the only ones who had touched a fish (at least from the people we talked to).

Oh yeah, to that guy in the Alumaweld (name one, there's a million of them on the Sky nowadays) thanks for corking us last weekend. I really love it when we are making our way through a run and somebody stops halfway up and starts to drag bait in front of you. rolleyes

I really hope you liked watching me hook and land that fish right out from under your boat....might want to work on your egg cure there buddy :p :p :p

Kid Sauk,

Thanks for the additional info regarding the drift. Unfortunately by the time I read this we were on our way winging it. It's good to know what the total mileage is for both of those drifts you mentioned-thanks again! We did the Sultan to Ben Howard drift. We started at around noon time and pulled out at dark -the last boat... Plently of rain off and on all day -mostly on though.... and visibility was around 2ft and the water depth in my waders was rising to 200cfs approaching flood stage. The river was running at around 6,000cfs when we headed out. We were flyfishing so we concentrated our efforts close to shore looking for the fish hanging in the shallows avoiding the heavy sediment currents. In fact, in a few places, you could actually here sand grating against the bottom of the boat as we drifted! Between three of us today we didn't hook a steelhead but did land a nice dolly varden. Though, I have to say, yesterday I hooked and landed a nice 10lb steelhead in the Sky and saw numerous fish swim upstream right by me as I stood there! fishy
Good Fishing, Darin
