I was hoping some one out there could give me a heads up on this drift. I have fished the upper river a zillion times from the bank and done the twin bidge to town lots but never the moonshine drift. I've been told that there is a small falls you have to rope around, I was hoping some one could give me some land marks so I don't come up on it unexpected like this winter. Thanks, Chris.

Siletzangler there are no falls on the Moonshine run.You want the river level to be at least 4ft 6 min. to do the drift , and I usally like it at 5ft6 to 6ft .There is some water to be caefull of ,but if you have some time on the sticks you should have no problems.

Thanks fishingseaducer,

We have run the santiam quite alot, including mill falls so i didn't think it would be anything to serious. I had just heard alot of people making it out to be nasty. Have you heard if the upper river is open yet? It's going to be HOT as soon as it is. Thanks again, Chris.

fishingseaducer,
We floated the bulls bag and caught a couple dozen sea runs as well. No 'nookie though. saw some dark fish caught a cedar creek and saw some rolling in a lot of the holes. Pain in the ass rowing the boat through tide water though. I can't wait for the gorge to open, there's going to be steelhead stacked like cord wood below buck creek. Chris.
