Wife bought me a net (BD gift for the DB). It's nice, but has a long handle (needed), but its too long and will take up too much space in the boat. (13' DB).

Anyone suggest a quality folding or extendable handle net? Seems a logical idea, and I have seen them before but can't seem to find one anywhere. Would prefer to buy from a local store (Northern Sales where the wife works doesn't carry them).

All the main shops should have them: teds, outdoor emporium, Cabelas, etc. I also did a search on "telescoping salmon net" and found a lot. This one looks like an interesting technology although pricey:

I did some Googling too...but prefer to buy one that someone here might have had experience with.

That "Salmonator" net is definately the real deal..but they sure are proud of it...$169.00 for the Salmon version. Sad thing is, after seeing the video's on the site I know it wold fit perfectly behind the rowers seat in the boat.

Gotta have one...but need to do some serious schmoozing of the wifey first... \:D

I have a net with a push button handle. The handle slides into the net. That makes it slightly longer than the net hoop when the handle is retracted. You can pick one up like it at Fred Meyer although I bought mine at Barrier Dam Campground a few years ago. Should be around $40 or so.

Sounds like a great reason to get a new boat!
