I just installed a digital tach on my boat for the new engine. The tach was a really new, used, tach off of a different boat. What are the "set" and "mode" buttons for and what sequence do I need to press them in to make their actions take place. So far all I have is the trip hour option. Is there much more?

You use the mode button to select which function you want to view (ie; trip distance, hourmeter, trip hours etc etc.). You press the mode and set button together to clear any meter (ie; to reset your trip meter, you would use the mode button to select that function and then press mode and set together to clear the meter). The set button is used to set the clock and the fuel flow meter if you have one installed. Hope that helps. You can go to the Yamaha website and download a manual in Adobe PDF format for free.

A word of caution as you do the wiring:
The yamaha tank sensor is wired a different way from a conventional type tank sensor!

It is just the digital tach. It has a trim/tilt sensor, oil level sensor, and of course RPMS. The wiring was pretty straightfroward as I used the harnesses made by Yamaha. The other digital gauge has fuel level. Thanks...
