I have two 500 plus pound pumpkins I want to get rid of. I have no idea what to do with them, but hope someone will know of a school, or group that c\an use them in a display or something. Have any one interested drop me an e mail.

What kind of ground prep does it take to grow a 500lb pumpkin? Ive always wanted to grow one just for a massive halloween decoration.

I got pumpkins growing in my yard this year by accident, where the kids scooped them out. Kinda cool.

The Sled:

I just read them fishing artilces. That seems to be all the fertilizer they need. If they need a big boost I read them some of Grandpas political rants.

Now Dave...since I have to discuss substantive things with you soon I will defer my nimble wit and refrain from slinging any fertilizer your way. Oh wait....Some would say when reading the Vedder political rants that the author is full of ****....Now I know where all the excess has gone. A 500# pumpkin needs alot of fertilizer.

Vedder,
Thanks for the advise. As far as the s#$% slinging goes for fertilizer, I get enough from my old lady

You figured out the problem with growing them.

To pick them up you need to get a real strong tarp . Slide the pumpkin on it by crab walking it on. Then drag the tarp onto a pallet. Next year if you do it again grow it on a pallet covered with cardboard so the pumkin does not get pallet slat marks.

You can also use a bucket on a bigger tractor.

TK: We tried rolling it with three men and ended up splitting it. You can see the split below the mouth. Finally got a dolly and rolled it onto that and wheeled it up to the driveway.

Now it's a question of how long before the neighborhood kids run over it. I'm thinking of putting a 2X2 full of 16 penny nails in it, but I suppopse they would sue me if i did.

Yep and your insurance would not cover you.

That thing is irresistable to a teenager. \:\)

I have a pic of the kids standing inside one we grew.
