It has been hit or miss for the last two years now. Can you say budget cuts? Just a matter of putting the time on the water to hit 'em.

Rumor has it next year is a selective fishery with the legal size limit of 20". Additionally, I am hearing that juveniles will only be held for 5-months vice 15-months. I have a bad feeling about that!

I agree the the last few years have been poor at best....gone for the most part are the days of catching numerous legal-size fish in a morning outing. With the exception of the 3rd week in December, this year has been slim pickings in Area 10.

Makes you wonder just how long this "500" fish Makah winter fishery in the Straits has been going on?

On opening day I asked the fish checker at the Everett ramp for the numbers (3:30 p.m.) she said 33 boats and 13 fish.

This was fish taken from area 9 and 8-1.
