Boyz, I would like to take my 13 year old son to one of the rivers to fly fish for pinks this year. I was trying to plan a trip for the two of us but I'm not sure which rivers get good returns of Pink Salmon. Do you have any recommendations for which rivers have substantial returns that we should fish? When is the start, end and peak of the Pink run?

Thanks

Take a look at the lower Snohomish from Lowell Park near south Everett.

A good launch site, $3. fee if I recall right.

Bank fishing is good from Lowell to Snohomish.

Pink flies or pink squid with a 1/8 or 1/4 ounce leadhead jig.

Fish were the pinks are jumping , move with the fish.

It's a real blast. We have had the best results on the top of an incoming tide.

Have you ever been to Hoodsport(chumville)?
They are there now. It's saltwater, but a great opportunity to get some 3-5lb pinks as they search around the creek's mouth. ;\)
Just watch out 'cause the seals are right after the hooked fish.

"Just watch out 'cause the seals are right after the hooked fish"--thats an understatement. Ever fish we hooked out there was emediatly chased by a seal. IT did make for some awsome runs by the pinks trying to get away

Try going to the Carbon River just outside the town of Orting. If you go during the week theres lots of bank access and any coolor corkie will do. 2003 the river was full of them and you could easily catch 15-20 by noon time

The Snohomish is a great bet for pinks. Fish right near the bottom with 3/8 oz pink maribou jigs or DickNites. I would move up farther to Bob Heirman Park or Thomas' eddie. If this is your first time just remember to stay near the bottom.
