This seems like a bad year for silvers. The rivers just are not that full.

I keep cathing them while others say its a bad year of fishing, I do not agree. I keep seeing lots of jumpers, have heard of nice fish being caught. All I know is I keep putting salmon on the BBQ pretty much every night. Cant be that bad of a return.

I have had mild success, but I really don't see the same numbers we normally have. I have really had to work to get fish, and I have found one spot where there a lot of fish schooled up. (Snohomish System)

It seems some of the river systems are having slow, but relatively normal returns, while others are very slow to non-existant.

I know that the N/A's were netting the last couple of weeks on the Skagit, and took several full totes of fish out. The rest of the fish that were in the system seemed to have blasted right on up to the Cascade and hatchery area.

There are many, many Coho that spawn throughout the Skagit system, in every nook and cranny creek, but they are now due (OVERDUE) to be showing up. I have yet to see one roll in the backyard...an indicator that fish are not holding, but moving right on through (or just not there). I know that many of the fish enter the river later in the season...heck, some of us have caught chrome bright Coho in Jan and even later in the year.

The Cascade is yielding a few fish to those persistent enough. I fished up there on Sunday afternoon and saw one small (maybe 3 pound) fish caught. Everyone else was skunked. Some guys say they are getting limits there very early in the AM...otherwise super slow.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the fish will be along soon, but since I'll be in Texas from the 13th till the 17th not much chance to fish them until next week.

They WILL come...(I hope).

Mike
