I went into the region 6 office in Montesano and was told that the meeting concerning the up coming steelhead season between WDFW and Quinault Tribe on Dec. 16 was cancelled and was not re-schedueled.Does anyone out there know why? What does this mean? Do the Quinault tribe get to net the Chehalis and Humptulips as much and as long as they want until the next meeting is scheduled?
Seems very FISHY to me. What do you guys think?

Technically, they get to net as much and as long as they want anyway.....and have as indicated by the upswing in activity the last 2 winters.

They've got the Feds/courts on their side. The Boldt decision dictates that both sides are to meet to hash out numbers and seasons AND, if I remember correctly, weren't supposed to fish until an agreement was reached(both sporties and tribes). When that fails it's anyone's guess as I don't recall either side being shut down in recent memory when the sides disagree.

We will fish and the tribes will fish as they see fit.....and the fish will lose(episode 467 in a series "Steelheading the great state of Washington"!)....sarcasm intended.
