My local beach has finally turned on. Nothing huge......yet. Very fun way to spend the evenings. I'm sure the morning bite is as good if not better, but my lazy ass can't get up at first light anymore.

Big Dave, my boss, got this little chromer last week. He's a BIG guy so he makes the fish look small. At 20" it was not huge, but a shiny clipped fish for the bbq.



Red-meated as hell. Looked like a sockeye and we cedar planked him......mmmmmmm good!



Evert, my mom's boyfriend, got his first ever fly-caught salmon! He was excited getting two bullheads until the baitfish started to boil in front of him. "Get your fly out there now!" He did and ended up with a beauty....clipped and shiny!



Give me that flyrod! Now it's my turn! Not as big, but another red-meated chromer and you just can't beat beach coho on the fly. What a blast!



Now I'm hosed. Gonna have to shell out the big bucks for a new flyrod. We hooked two on flies in back to back casts after two of us beat the water to a froth with gear. They like those little sculpin streamers!

Tides are going to be awesome later next week.....C'MON DOWN!

That is a fun fishery, I am going to try to make it over this year. It looks like we this run may be better than what we have seen in the Puget sound so far this year.

Bob finally clued me in as to who Mingo is. I didn't make the connection until this week. I saw him at my office and kept thinking - "I know I've seen this guy before". I had no idea.

I know I can handle Jerry and Mingo now. When we fish the beach I'll give you a handicap and Parker and I will flyfish...you guys and chuck herring.

I'm sure that chair will come complete with a whoopie cushion and plenty of seagull poop on it!!! Looking forward to it ...I think I remember meeting you now....I've logged more hours in a driftboat with Robbo than I can count so the odds are I was probably buzzing on some of "Dublin's Finest" when I talked to you.....damn Robbo can row like a mofo when he's on the Guinness!

Ugghhh you guys are making my 'rhoids flare up with all the yapping about coho on the beach. Any chance that this fishery is on the South Hood Canal?

I'm guessing this is not on the lower Hood Canal. I'm guessing it is on the west/southwest shores of Whidbey like Bush Pt. or somewhere close perhaps. :p
