My buddy got a new 24ft. Osprey so we decided to take it to Neah Bay for some Butt fishing. I know already that some of you are wondering why we went to Neah Bay after all the things that has happened up there, but with a new boat you don't want to be so far from a port if something should happen. Well it went like this we caught our Canadian Butt along with some Kings and big silvers came back to the dock, cleaned the fish then went to the truck to store the fish and guess what a FRIGGING FLAT TIRE the valve stem had been removed and put next to the flat tire. We contacted the local police and he informed us that tires have been hit all summer by the local punks running the streets we were not the only truck that was hit there was 3 other trucks that were hit the same night. We feel pretty lucky since the other trucks had there tires sliced open and there coolers taken. Day two same thing went back to truck put the fish in the truck another tire flat we then contacted the local police and this officer told us that it was probably other fisherman I asked him what world he was in. I told him that if caught someone messing with our truck that they would be CRAB bait. We then loaded up our boat 2 days early and went home around midnight. We will never EVER go back to Neah Bay oh another thing we happen to talk to a tribal commerical fisherman he told me that fishing for Kings was so good in June that one commerical boat caught the quota for all the sport fisherman. Please spead the word about what happened to us so other fisherman do not have to go thru what we did. And don't let the the people at Big Salmon tell you that everything is just fine they will tell you anything to get your money. One last thing I hope the Kennawick man is not a Indian then maybe all the rights the tribes have will be thrown out the window.

I arrive there in daylight and leave in daylight. Park my vehicle at the big grocery store parking lot.
Two years ago I had my brand new Chev Sububan vandalized at La Push (another lawless town). Still flames me when I look at the streak down the side, especially since I still owe 20K on it.

mikek got my question, did you have the permit? I heard the vandalism targeted the vehicles w/o permits. I am not justifing this at all, still reprehensible behavior by low-lives.

Last weekend my son asked me why kids can ride through the middle of town on 4-wheelers with no helmets, lights, or licenses. I said there are special rules there.

Include all tribes!! Spent a 10 hour flight to Tokyo last week with a Washington Game Enforcement Agent, man did he have stories of the last 30 years. Did you know-- Muks kill 50% of whatever elk are left each year and blame the shrink in heard on the enviroment and whitey?
The 8 point in the Muk tribal office is a poached elk that the muks forces the state into giving back to the tribe?
The new chief field officer for the south branch of the state enforcement is a woman and a Muk? By the way she is the one that forced the elk to be returned and the poacher was never arrested?
The state has given up on the green, they have almost no one down there anymore as there are very few fish (summer run) to catch.
The state guys pull about 3 nets a week out of the lower green, the indian cops admit they are indian nets but don't care.
Each Muk gets $2,800 a month from the casinos.
60% of the gill netters are non-Indians, just married one.
The Tribes have banned together and now there can be no special fisheries anywhere unless the State can provide enough agents to patrol it. Agents from all over the west side had to go to the Skagit during the King fishery.
All you crabbers, The Tulalip's took more crab this year than you have in the last 3 years.
Oh, and that wild caught salmon from Safeway, all milky eyed, never been bled gill net caught.
He had about 5 more hours of facts, but that is it for now. More will come, but it left me numb.
I know this site does not like to bash Indians, but at some point we have got to take back our rivers and oceans or they will rape and pileage and then blame us.

I want to address a couple questions that were asked about our last I do mean our last adventure at Neah Bay. Yes we did have a use permit and so did the other 6 trucks that got hit. It seemed it did not matter if you had a permit or not. The fish we caught were on the outside in Canada the fishing was great for this time of year the Silvers were pretty big we caught some in the 8 to 9 lb. range you could not keep them off your line. The True cod were monsters. We were using Coyote Spoons in any color. The fish seemed to be bigger in Canada. There is something I would like to bring up about Silver fishing and that is why must some people keep a Silver that is only about 18 inches long why and kill a fish for a couple very small fillets and that small of a fish counts as part of the yearly quota. Also the Mini- Mart down the street from Big Salmon sells Diesel fuel for 30 cents cheper. The only thing that I have to say again about Neah Bay is that I've been fishing there for about 28 years and this is the worst that I've every seen it. It's too bad because some of the local are very nice it's the PUNK ASS kids that are running the streets at all of the night that are too blame. The only thing that can out of this is that fishermen not going up there any more and spending our hard earned money will open up the eyes of the local stores that maybe the local police will put a curfew on the PUNKS. But I really doubt if anything will happen.

Sorry to hear about the vandalism in Neah Bay.
As for the small silvers, I think you are just looking at it the wrong way. I often take what hits my lure especially this time of year. This past weekend I struggled to find hatchery silkvers though with the rough water I didn't go very far from Wadaah Island.
I have long since gotten over the need to bring in the big fish. I'm happy to bring in a small silver and let a big one go later. The big ones are much more likely to survive the trauma of being caught too.

Hey Lingcod I was fishing out of snow creek this weekend but realized that if I was going to launch our bigger boat up there it would probably have to be on the Rez. I have been fishing Neah since about 1980 and have to say our tax money has provided a beautiful new marina but I don't feel wanted up there at all. I was the big guy in the Neah Marina restroom when you came in and told your buddy waiting to take a shower that your tire had been hit again and you were leaving. For the first time this year I drove to the other side of the rez to check out the surf beach. That land is awsome once you get past the getto that the town has become. When you see what little care is put into the homes and cars why would anyone think they really give a crap about taking care of anything including the fish. I am 6'1 and over 300lbs now and as a kid walking around in Neay bay back in the 80s I woried about nothing but now feel uncomfortable about walking from the from the Marina 100yards to Big Salmon up on the road at night. Just a bunch of punks without decent guidence that are going to get worse with age. The last thing I want to worry about on a fishing trip is pissing off the wrong gang and having My kid get his ass kicked trying to buy an over priced bag of ice. My dad was close to a couple that ran the docks to the east of big salmon in the eighties. They were shot and killed after the wife recieved a settlement for a back injury that one of the good members of the tribe decided he deserved more. I hope that snowcreek can make that place totally unneeded to me in the future. I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to use the cart launch at snow now but can say that launching a Trophy off it was no problem. A 26 footer with an I/O not me. Oh ya there is a swarm of sivers off of Tatosh sea bass all along shore and the Kings are starting to show....Art

The rez is dry, whites bring beer, native steals cooler, gets drunk, and entertains himself with vandalism.
This winter make it a wet rez and let natural selection take its course!!!
