Looking for a 16 or 17 ft. guide model driftboat, preferrably Willie or Clack. but will consider others. The newer the better, not looking for an older/beat-up boat. Preferrably in W. Wa. area.

Thanks for the replies! if I can't find what I'm looking for close to home, I'll probably drive to Oregon and buy a new boat. Trying to avoid 2-8 hr. drives.

AkKings, I highly recommend the new boat approach if you can swing it. I just got my third boat, second Willie and I wanted it the way I wanted it, not someone elses idea of the ideal configuration. It's pretty fun to work with the guys at Willie and get to pick your options. I worked with a local Willie Rep in Bellevue Wa. to get all the details on Options. If you time it right, you can get them to deliver your boat to Seattle or Puyallup during one of the boat shows. The drive does SUCK! I did the round trip to Central Point and back to Seattle in 17 hours. Good Luck!

Thanks Kyle_A, I really haven't found much available in this area (actually, nothing) that suits my needs, as much as I hate the drive, it looks like I'm going to have too.
As for the local rep. I think I'll skip that after some bad service at a boatshow last year, besides, I hate to have to wait till the winter shows to take delivery. Thanks again.

Check out Hyde on the web.... I've been very happy with mine. I'd recommend new as well, set it up with all the storage you can afford. Get the UHMW bottom, it's slicker than snot.

There's a guy with a previous post that has an 03' clack stealheader model for $3800... might check it out.

Whatever you do, do plenty of research.... These boats can last a lifetime if you don't get the itch for a new one. Buy it the way you want it and you'll be happier over time.

Ordered 1 of these http://www.riverwolfboats.com/deluxeguidemodel.asp with all the bells and whistles, should be ready in about 3 weeks.
Planned on buying a Willie but the guy that replaced Tyler (who I was dealing with last spring) didn't give me the same price quote Tyler did so I decided to look elsewhere, a guide buddy of mine suggested I check River Wolf out and I'm glad I did, saved about $1350 over a Willie with similar options.
Larry, the owner/builder of River Wolf has been great to deal with and very helpful.
After last years poor customer service at the Monroe sportsman's show and 2 different price quotes I'm more then happy to give my money to someone other then Willie.

Right on man... congratulations. I think my boat was the best purchase I've made yet. I'll say that I thought I was a pretty good fisherman. I got humble when I got my boat... It forced me to fish all of the different kinds of water, not just the stretches below the hatchery. It's been the best learning experience since I started fishing.
