I think go ol' fashion worms will do the trick. I had one old timer tell me they go after any shiny lure too.

Worms.... on the bottom. Some people tip a fly with maggots. Me, I've always used worms.

I used to catch plenty of them in Montana on a fly rod. Use a #10 to #16 nymph pattern. With bait use a small hook, #6 or smaller with worms or maggots.

White fish fly & maggots. To keep those maggots lively on cold days, keep them in your mouth....

MB,

How about we gang up on whitefish? I'll bring the flies, you bring the bait. I wanna see you carry them in your mouth.

If I bring bait it will be worms in a tin can. Worms are easier to put on the hook if they are kept cold.

Also to other whitefish fishers... use smaller than a #6 hook with bait. Use a #10. It fits in their mouth better. Also that's about the size worm piece you want. Just enough to cover a #10 hook.

Micro Brew I would also like to see you carry the MAGGOTS in yout mouth. Now I know why your are so quiet as you dont want them to fall out!! Lets go after these whiteys. All toss a worm somewhere.
I will have to wear dark glasses so know one see's me. As I only toss flies. laugh

I use an egg hook and a red Power Egg. It works great and you usually get your power egg back! Jack
