I have never caught a fish on a jet diver, and was wondering if the resistance that they have when there is no fish on evens out when you get a fish on, or if you have to deal with extra pull while fighting a fish. Also I was wondering about how many feet will a K-14 Kwikfish dive by itself? And would it work by itself on the columbia for springers later in the year?

you dont have to set the hook extra hard. i used them trolling spinners for silvers in the lower snohomish i didn't really have to set the hook very hard though they almost ripped the rod out of my hands. laugh

Jet Divers are a great tool for controlling the depth of your lure while trolling. I've never used them for small fish, mainly big trout and salmon, so I can't speak to how much drag there is when you've hooked something that is on the light side.

However, you can minimize the effect of the drag by rigging the diver off a slider. Rig it just like a free-sliding weight with a swivel or EZ Glider on your main line and a short dropper to the Jet Diver; in addition, the freedom the diver has makes it swim from side to side like a Hot N Tot. You won't feel nearly the resistance with this set-up unless you're using the really big divers. The 50 will drag your boat backward-- almost. Good luck, Keith

I haven't fished out on a boat for many years. So I have this question that I need to ask. This jet diver that you talk about is it the same as a pink lady. Some of you younger fishers probly don't know what I'm talking about but the oldsters do. Jim S. smile

Geez, do I hate to answer this and have myself dubbed an "oldster", but in the spirit of sharing knowledge--

A Jet Diver works on the same principal as a Pink Lady in that the planing lip makes the thing dive. The difference is that the Pink Lady also uses weight whereas the Jet Diver is buoyant. If you snag the diver and give it slack, it will float up if it can.

The diver has several different ways of rigging and comes in five sizes.

Luhr Jensen still makes the Pink Lady-- and the Jet Diver and a couple of other divers as well.

What is the est. dive depth of a Hot N Tot. I can't seem to find any right now so I bought some 10ft divers. I think they might dive alittle deep?
Any suggestions.

Bill

kjackson a yes wouldn't have gave away your age. The last time that I went out in a boat is when the pink lady's came out. The skipper said use this it's new. I caught my limit and two others. In those days you could do that. About 35 years ago I think. But I could be wrong. Jim S. laugh

the jet diver and the pink lady are relativly the same but you cant pull anything that creates a strong pull (large spinners, dodgers, pop gear) on the pink lady because it wont dive
