I'm going to be near Coulee City around the end of the month and i was thiking about trying Banks Lake. I was told that big rainbows are in the shallows around this time. I was curious about the where, how (flyfishing), and whens of fishing this lake. I will be fishing from the bank probably on the south end. Any info would be appreiciated.

I fish Banks in the summer time, usually by boat. Try stopping by Big Wally's (Texaco gas station) in Coulee City for advice on where to go for bank fishing spots. They are the experts on Banks Lake and even have a guide service.

Oh yea, don't overlook the walleye fishing this time of year. It should be smokin'.

FishnfellaS, do you have any info??

As I answered on the flyfishing site it's a little cold yet for the bows to come into
the shallows for food as no bugs there and waters 39-40. Try about second week in
April my guess is. We need some days up into the 60's to start that water warming.
This is a winter from hell.

The walleyes are awakening in deeper water and feeding on whitefish fry and whatever
other small fish available this time of year.. Fish your bait/lures slow on the bottom w/a
bottomwalker. Somma the bigger females get caught this next month or so. Unless desparate
for meat release these female hogs and keep the smaller males. Their spawn is your future
fishing. smile

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I will hold off on Banks and try Lenore, but I really hate the circus that goes on there this time of year. Ditto for Rocky Ford Creek.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean, double ditto.
I'm trying to promote a little addition to quality waters,
ours are getting loved to death.
Powerbaiters are beating me up pretty bad though.
Could use a little help.
