I was fishing for more channels in Gissberg a couple of days ago with chicken livers. I'd done some poking around on the net, and came across a tip that if you mix them in when making strawberry-banana jello, it toughens 'em up so they don't fly off the hook so easily when you cast, and improves the taste to the fish. While I didn't get any catfish, I did manage to catch two trout! On hunks of liver flavored with strawberry-banana jello! If they go that crazy over liver, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to try preparing roe in it for you big trout enthusiasts. Just thought I'd pass it along.

Of course, you don't want to eat the jello afterwards

I don't think that would work out too well, at least not the way I did it. I put the liver in when making the jello, which requires boiling water and cold water, plus refrigeration overnight. The nightcrawlers would almost certainly die. You need bait that's dead.
