Hey all,
I'm fishing a small lake in Lakewood(a.k.a. Red Square) and have been hitting rainbows near the shore on perch colored rapalas. "The Good Ship Lollipop" has a hole in bow, so Im kinda shore bound for the time being.
I was reading an article in Noth American Fishermans Magazine about trolling rapalas and other such plugs and baits for big trout near the top. The reasoning behind this seems to be something about zooplankton rising to the top in cold weather and attracting smaller gamefish and baitfish to them , luring "Big Moe" out of the depths to the macro-feeding frenzy above. The whole "bigger bait=bigger fish" theorum probably pans out as a result. Seems to be working so far, so I thought I'd share it with ya'll.

steelworker,

yes, rapalas are great trolled, been doing it for years at lake sammamish, and lake meridian. use small perch, or i prefer a rainbow minnow pattern. floating rapala, not too deep of diver though. a little worm scent is good to.
