Ok, so I got some gift cards for fathers day, and I'm looking to use them online to buy bass gear. What I'm looking to find out is wether people, when throwing plastic baits, use scented or unscented baits. Unscented is cheaper, but does it diminish your fishing experience? Just trying to get a feel. Thanks.

well, in my experience I catch equally with unscented or spraying with scent. Haven't noticed much difference in my two years of serious bass fishing. But sometimes the confidence factor helps you make that one extra cast... thumbs

Thanks for the quick response. That is good to know. I've done a lot of fishing, but I think I'm kind of at that point where I finally know that there is so much I don't know. This site and washingtonlakes.com has been great thus far in helping me take the next step.

Don't leave home with out it. It does help with the light bites, keep in mind that it will not laod the boat for you. 45% placement, 45% action, 5% scent, and 5% luck.

If you still do not catch fish, rub the scent into your shirt, so it will make your fish lies more believable.

I think it helps for trout no doubt, and in my little bass experience that I have under my belt, I would say that the scent is definetely helpful...The pro's always scent their lures too...But I do buy unscented bass gear because it is cheaper but I usually do scent it when I get on the water...

I use all kinds of scent on or in the baits. I don't think it attracts fish but it does cover up any other smells from my boat or me. If you put scent on, get the thick kind because the liquids wash off too fast, so you have to reapply. AND THAT TAKES UP FISHING TIME.
