Any of you been out for black bear yet?

I was up in the Cougar Rock area (Skamania County) a week ago picking huckleberries and looking for bear sign. Lots and lots of berries, but only found a single track, a small one at that.

Ran into 2 other guys who had not seen any sign.

Should be lots of bears with the abundant berry crop.

I went out opening week for a PLWMA and did not see anything. On my way in during an afternoon I stopped at the gate and two guys did have two bears. One small, 90lbs hanging, the other really old, but small too. Spoke with two other guys who saw some but could not get close enough for a shot. I would try above Ashford/Randle I think. I am getting ready for deer opening soon, so I may know some more then. Good luck
