Got a text from Dave the other day asking if I needed help finishing up my elk. Hell yeah.

Shows up tonight, and in 5 1/2 hours we wrapped what I had already cut and then proceded to grind up a metric ass ton burger on Rocket Red's Cabela's grinder. I'll be dropping off some burger and steaks for Ryan. I figure I have about 200+ pounds of burger. Maybe the same amount in steaks.

BTW, we used Salmonella's suggestion on adding some 27% fat content beef burger to the elk after the first grind. I figured that after that we had about a 6% fat content, so it is pretty lean, but has enough fat to add some flavor. I'll let you know how the burger turns out.

Take some time to get to know a few of these folks here, and learn from what they have to share. If you don't, you're missing out on the best part of this board.

Awesome! Can't wait to try some burgers. My wife just got some buns yesterday.

Glad to hear that the grinder worked out. I have had it since last x-mas and have only run maybe 15 ducks and 5 geese through it.

Good times.
Andy you did a great job on the house and shop. A very impressive compound to say the least!
I thought the rack on that bull was nice in your picture of it. Holy crap is that thing is huge in person.
Great to see you and the family again Andy.
And to echo your comment about getting to know people on the board I agree completly. I've learned a ton and made a bunch of great friends here.
ps I say thanks for the meat and Chase says thanks for the bones. He was still working on one when I went to bed last night.

Here is what is soooo great about Cabelas...

Rocket Red you can walk into Cabelas a few weeks from now (when you have some waterfowl you just attempted to make into sausage) and return the grinder. You can look at the clerk and say with a straight face "I have only grinded 15 ducks and 5 geese. I put it away for 10 months, go to use it, and the plastic body of the grinder is now brown and smoke comes out when I try and use it."

That thing got worked out last night. In all fairness if anyone is looking for a grinder that thing worked well. Andy was running whole bones through it and [censored].

Nice Dave,

Thanks for throwing me under the bus. I was gonna blame that on Hunter. I guess you owed me after the breezy window incident, and all. wink It'll buff right out.
