Pack confirmed N. of Cle Elum...........................
Times Article

Them things can sure cover a lot of ground! Guess I need to start carrying the .357 when grouse hunting!

It'll be interesting to see the impact of this pack as they're in a wilderness area as opposed to a ranching area. I'd suspect this pack is in a place where they could do a lot of damage to the elk herds frown But then again this area being so rough and forested maybe they wont have the impact they've had in the Rocky states?????

We shall see...................

There is some good news though. Now when I don't shoot an elk this year I've got something to blame smile

We heard them in the Nile two years ago and the word was "no breading pairs". I think there are likely more wolves than anyone is ready to admit in Wa and I have no belief that this state will ever manage them. Maybe if they start start eating people.

A new predator that the Elk are not wary of will have an impact I'm sure. I agree with ya, its nice to have extra excuses.

Just to be safe everyone should stop hunting to make sure the forest puppies have enough food.

Hope I never see one, hear one or feal the need to shot one in this state. If either of the first 2 things happen I am sure I will feel different about the third. I'd love to help out Idaho or Montana with there wonderful new blessing.

Just returned from Montana where I was reminded that the state's wolf management plan is tied up in court. I think it's important to note that both Montana and Idaho have wolf management plans that have been approved by the US Fish & Wildlife Service. Unfortunately a few environmental groups feel that USFWS doesn't know enough about wildlife management and doesn't want any wolf hunting allowed allegedly until wolves are recovered in all the western states. Seems kinda' weird in that no one complains about wolf management in Minn. and Wis. altho the species is extinct or ESA listed in every other state south of AK.

I was just thinking a couple weeks ago how cool it is that WA was ahead of the 8 ball for a change and has almost completed a wolf management plan even though we have very few wolves here. Now I'm concerned that the plan won't get a chance to be used if the same groups decide to manage WA wolves via the courts instead of letting wildlife managers do their thing. But since we manage fisheries in WA via politics and the courts, I guess we'd just be being consistent if we manage wolves the same way.

you know it's legal to shoot them as long as nobody sees you and you don't tell anyone.....right?
