A freind of mine E-mailed this to the DFW. I was just wondering if any one else would be interested in a spring Bear hunt.. If so, send the DFW an E-mail. Any responses on the board would be great, Thanks.. beer

Here's the E-mail address

To whom it may concern,

Several people on the Western side of the Olympic Peninsula are interested in having a spring Black Bear Hunt. The Units of interest are: Hoko, Pysht, Dickey, Sol Duc, Clearwater and Goodman. The season dates could be: March 1st - June 1st. This would provide area residents with a spring hunting season and would bring in money to the local economy. There are currently no spring hunting seasons on the West side for any species with the exception of the elusive Cougar. This new hunting season would also curtail alot of the Bear damage to second growth trees. Since Hound Hunting was banned for Bear and Cougar both populations have exploded, and has in turn taken a toll on the Deer and Elk populations. Please consider this request in the highest regards.

I like the idea of a spring bear hunt on the west side, but I don't think it should be just for the peninsula. Lots of bears down here by Mt Rainier as well. Good idea though.
