I got another nice elk this year over by Salmon Idaho. We saw a herd of of 34 animals at daybreak and glassed until they went into the dark timber. We then did a 4 hour hike to above where we last saw them. The plan actually worked and they came back out about 3pm. They fed to within 200 yards and bedded. He was bugling for about an hour and finally got up so I could nail him at 5pm.

Seastrike -
that bull in incredible !
what weapon u bag him with?
Was that a guided hunt or do-it-your self. did the Mulie come from the same area? Terrain looks like a double-diamond ski run!

It was only a two hundred yard shot. I used a .06 with 165 Hornady Light Mags.
It was unguided and the deer was shot about 8 miles away. Those are fairly flat compared to most of the terrain! We were able to get the horses right to both of them to pack out the meat.
Both animals were shot at approximately 8000 ft.
