I've never been to the Willapa Hills area. I was thinking of going to check it out for late buck. Does anybody know if I need an access permit from a timber company? Is it public or private land? Anybody out there that can help me out! confused

Most of the area I hunted is private timberlands. As of last year, no permit was required to access it. There are chunks of state land in it too. I have seen lots of deer on the north side of the SR 6 in the Lincoln unit. If you want an extra area or three try the Wynoochie, Satsop, and Packwood GMU's. I think the rut must be going real good. Saw several BIG bucks last week. Nothing smaller than a 3 point in each of the areas. I am waiting for late muzzleloader, starts the 22nd. All the deer were moving around quite a bit.

Willapa Hills gets a LOT of traffic-road hunting-so if you want to increase your odds find a red dot gate and walk in. Otherwise you will have guys driving up on top of you glassing the same area.
