Wow-That must be a very looooooow serial number as the model 94 was introduced in '95. With over 7 million produced I would think to have one from the first year would be worth something!

I would take it down to Cabela's and have one of their guys asses it for you. That should at least give you a good starting point.

Had some fun w/ my dads old 1894 last week. Its a .32 Winchester special made in 1950, we dug around & found a box of Remington factory 170 grain ammo from the 70/80's & hit his local range out of Troy, MT. We knew it was on @ 100 yards w/ his reloads, so on a whim I went for distance. Now this place has a backstop berm @ 330 yards, I pushed the ramp rear sight up to the highest setting & got steady on the sandbags.

We had put a 1 gallon milk jug out there & I had pops on the spotting scope. I'll be danged if it wasn't spot on. That ammo put all 15 rounds I shot in so close as to defy belief.

I really don't think I could do a ton better w/ my glass bedded & 3-10x scoped .270 Win. Believe me those old leverguns can shoot.

I took my Model 86 .33 ca. to Cabelas a couple of years ago. What a bunch of goofs. "Oh no .33 , they didn't make one of those. Must have been altered", then after some book searching they said that they might give me $1300. Then this one dude took the gun out to the library to make some comparisons. He seemed to wet his pants and spun around and headed b ack to the office. His offer went up to $3200 so I figured the rifle must be worth $6400. I think what make the difference in my case is the full barrel length magazine. I have been concidering selling it .....

And Larry just brousing the cabela's gun library and this site:
http://www.gunsinternational.com/Gun-Appraisals.cfm

you might get an idea

Ah, the .33 WCF the original .338 Magnum circa 1903. Pushes a 200 grain soft point bullet @ 2200 fps, good elk medince in the timber IMHO.

Some info from the November - December 2000 issue Rifle magizine.

"With the exception of the .33 WCF, all the cartridges chambered in the 1886 were designed for blackpowder with a peak operating pressure of around 28,000 psi. The .33 WCF was a smokeless cartridge from the get-go that developed upwards of 40,000 psi in the relatively new nickel-steel barrels."

All I know is that it was most likely my dear old dads' first rifle. And when he moved up to the Mod 70 .270 , sons and son-in-laws had to pack that heavy, sharp butted stock, mule kicken sob through the brush hound doggin critters for the elders.

Then somebody decided that we could run out of ammo and she has been shelved for maybe 40 years.
