I'm no expert, I just started the pheasant thing a few months ago...I bought hatched chicks for a buck apiece over in Kittitas and ended up with 2 that I am assuming are "goldens" the rest look to be regular old ringnecks, it's been a fun time watching them grow....are all pheasants psychotic?
so, what is your explanation of the yellow ones...? are those your own eggs or did you buy them?
A buck is a hella good price on chicks. Goldens eh? Of what flavor golden (red, yellow, cinnamon...) ? I've got some cinamons hatching in 3 days. Valley quail popping in the next day or two... even a couple turkeys for kicks...
Not all pheasants are psychotic, well, unless they're between 2 and 10 weeks, then yes, all are...
I've got one sad looking little hen sitting on a nest in the back of one pen, away from any possible protection from the rain, soaked as hell...sitting on eggs that are likely soaked as hell also. Giving her an "A" for effort at least.
Oh, and of the white chicks, one is completely blind (yet finds food and water well by the sound of the others) and the other is a huge rooster, like twice as big as any of the other birds. Anyone need a white rooster? The regular ones are bound to peck the hell out of him when he gets a little older.
