I must have hiked 40 mi and covered twice that on the quad and didnt see anything. Anyone have better luck?

We've hunted that general area for 16 years. I've never hunted so hard to see so few animals. There were 5 of us that hunted from the opener to the following Saturday and we saw a grand total of 4 elk. Three of us never saw an elk,my dad saw a cow and my brother saw 2 cows and a rag horn bull.

Every person we stopped to talk to had the same report. A lot of guys were wondering what was going on.

Alot of similar talk on a local hunting site about 340. I almost bought the EA tag so I could go back and hunt that unit which I grew up hunting as a kid, glad I didn't, maybe next year!

5 of us in our camp hunted to Manastash unit the hole season and we saw a total of 5 elk. I saw a 2 x 1 opening day and only got a split second to see that he was a legal spike and off into the thicket he went. My wife had a cow tag that never got filled. The weather was too nice.
