Headed out to eastern Washington to meet up with Art (Achewter) and his kids. The goal was to get some kids into some deer. The first spot we hit was to hunt a glory hole.

Here is the view from the top.

Only a short 1.2 mile hike as the crow flies, but then there was that 1,600 foot drop in elevation. Not sure of the angle, but it was more than 1.2 miles we hiked.

So here is how it looked as I took three 16 year old boys down some pretty steep sh!t as we played leapfrog. Bottom man would take point and glass as the guys from the top would drop down in order.

First stop.

Kinda steep.

Pretty all the way down.

Still pretty steep.

Progress.

Flat spot, kinda.

Playtime's over.

The first 0.4 miles was an 800 foot drop in elevation.

Hard stuff is at our backs.

Looking up from the bottom.

Yeah, we started up there. Only took 4.5 hours.

Sadly all we saw was some Huns and quail, but we covered ALL of it. No glory, but a great hunt, regardless.

Headed a little further east and we got a few boys into their first white tails. Little Ryan, my son, connected on his third deer. Nice barren fat doe. Not as fat as a Sitka deer, but pretty close.

Big Ryan, connected on his first deer. Sorry, no pics, yet.

You don't see many deer killed with a single turkey quill! Nicely done Art, Dog, and pups! Looks like you have a freezer-full of delicious venison for the winter...mission accomplished! And I betcha Dad still has his tag for the late season. wink
