your own bore snake for small caliber rifle? Can't see shoveling out the twenty plus bucks for something I would think I can make. Anyone done this?

As far as making one; I think the R&D process would put you over $20 time and materials.

My main issue is how to create a loop small enough to go down the bore.

i would just forget about them Slab...standard cleaning methods are perfectly fine... solvents and greases are the only thing that has changed pretty much...

also, that video is a stupid way of cleaning your rifle.. why would you pull all the "loose" junk and crud down into the action? if anything you would pull it out of the barrel from inside the action... problem with that, is all the gunk that accumulates on those stupid things, ends up where the bullet enters the barrel...

bolt action rifles are even easier to clean...

bore snakes always have grime and crud in them after the first use... clean wire and fresh rags are always clean...

just my OP...

I had planned on running the snake down the barrel and out the end, putting a rag in a loop and pulling it down the barrel, so none of the crap gets in the action......a one way swipe, so to speak. conventional cleaning gear pushes the rod down into the action.....wanted to avoid doing that.
