Well to tell you the truth, I have yet to be on the Nooch lately, I have been on a few other rivers. The Nooch was flowing quite high last weekend and was colored up pretty good. The flow is around 700 as of today and should be dropping as we speak. 700 is pefrectly safe to float it in, hell the lower it gets the safer it is, but the harder it is. You have to get out and do alot of dragging the boat. In August when the river drops to 400-500 thats when you seem to get more excercise walking and pulling the boat than you do rowing. But right now the river has more than enough water in it to float.

I agree with Osprey, when the water gets low, pull out a Cat. But seriously, the Nooch isn't a very technical river, even at high water (I've floated it near flood stage and was nothing much to write home about). I've floated the Duc, Hoh, Kalama, Toutle, they're alot more technical rivers at low levels then Nooch is at high. But, I was down there camping on my Dad's property last weekend and the river was up and perfect. It didn't seem that stained to me, but I wasn't staring at it 24/7 either since the river was still closed. Well, I'll be on the Nooch all summer, see you there in my Cat.
