I DID NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU WERE ALL WRITING BUT I GUESS IT IS TRUE. I JUST READ IT ON THE WASHINTON STATE FISH AND GAME WEB SITE. AS OF FEB 28, ALL NORTH END RIVER SYSTEMS WILL BE CLOSED TO ALL STEELHEAD FISHING! THAT IS JUST GREAT.

Everyone interested in C&R should check out Sunday's Everett Herald.

(view online at

WDFW has NEW POLICY not to "target" any fishery affecting wild steelhead - EVEN IF C&R. This could mean the Snohomish system is just the first to see a rule change.

I wonder if Forks rivers will see C&R season for wild fish eliminated? Could all state rivers be closed closing early, maybe March 1 or earlier depending on state's definition of when hatchery fish are "done"?

Actually, this is probably good since it will help save the nates. But it's going to be disappointing to steelheaders and could impact the local economies too.

The Herald also has a good article on restoring Deer Creek steelhead run. Shows we can fix habitat if we want to.

Interesting that coastal rivers, both west side of vancouver island and our coast, aren't effected as much as "interior" rivers. Kinda makes me wonder if enclosed marine waters like the Sound aren't reacting the way the rivers that flow into them are--puking from too much of "us".
Anyone read the article in the PI last week about the herring at Cherry point? Seems the population is crashing-lots of them being born with mutations. To the point where they may not recover. We dump 9 million gallons of tainted water into the enviroment there every day.
Hate to sound like an enviro nazi but one thing is for freakin sure in all this, if we continue like we are, real bad [Bleeeeep!] is going to happen to our natural world.

Why do they still sell lawn fertilizer? C
