Does anyone here have one of these, or knows of anyone that has one of the first, most original, 360 rotating Salmon spinners.

Also known as the “Shovel & Rudder?

Truly a Back in the Day piece of salmon gear for sure. They used to show up a fair bit back in the good ole daze of Salmon Fishing down south in The Point Defiance /Tacoma waters.

If you have one, or possibly two, I’m willing to buy, trade, or barter with you to aquire one or two.

Fish On

I have been meaning to contact you for quite a while now. I have not because this board has become quite boring and I have not posted in quite a while and lost my log in in info. Well I finally to the time to figure it out and I now have. I happen to have two, one is hanging from a standing lamp in my living room and the other is hanging from a post in my basement. I suppose that if it goes to you I will not be able to admire it anymore when I go to my basement and turn the corner, but if I take my eyes from the computer screen and look to the right I can see the one that is hanging from my lamp.

Well, it’s been awhile, but here’s the latest.

I did hook up with a longtime Pt. Defiance PP salmon fisher and managed to do a little swapping, trading, and a nice fishing trip in SouthSound last season.

This ended up with me finally getting an old Original Shovel and Rudder salmon attractor. After quite a few moons trying determine if I was going to use it in it’s original old school patina, or refinish it in some new color scheme, I decided to restore the lure and repaint.

Final finish ended up in a pearl white, with a lite coat of silver over spray, and a triple clear coat of paint over that. As I had help from my 7 year old grandson, he decided that the big spinner needed a couple of laser etched , double diamond cut adhesive stickers added to the spin.

Initial salmon fishing with this old gurl is scheduled for the next MA-11 opener later this month.

Can’t wait!

And, finally a big thanx to Jack, aka Blackmouth, for helping with this treasure hunt, as well as some great local fishing expertise that put fish in my boat , a great guy for sure.
