Made my annual trek to Johns River for OD. As in past years it was real slow. Had one flock of Cacklers pass by; about 10 but out of range. Four came back, closer. Some guys were about 100 yards away, calling. They also had dekes out so I passed. Four birds went into the mist and none came out.

One Dusky Canada flew by, in range, but their season is closed. One the way out I had two GW teal come by and I actually shot!. Killed one but it fell in a small slough with fine mud banks and mud bottom. Tried to walk out close enough to grab but instead fell into the very ugly, smelly, sticky mud.

Since it had been more than a decade since I shot, the day was more pf a success than the last decade. Where did all the geese go?
