Paul, I think that the chum runs are a little late this year. There was a pretty good push of fish from my local rivers early in the year. Depending on how low your river was this year might have something to do with it. When the water is very low and clear pretty much all fish that were in the river will turn and head back down to the ocean or hold in the deeper holes. I have seen it happen. One of my friends that worked in Alaska turned me on to this. He said while fishing for reds up there if the river was too low and clear the fish would turn. On low tide they would string there nets out at the mouth of the rivers and would have a full nets by the time the tides change. Very interesting! Just a thought.
