For those of you who receive Fish & Fly magazine, you may have seen this article in the winter 2002 edition.

A guy hooked a 18 foot White shark off the coast of the Chatham Islands, just east of New Zealand, with a Custom Designed Seal-Meat-Chum fly pattern featuring a 130 LB shock wire tippet. The pattern was about 12 inches long.

He had been gearing up for this adventure for about two years and had a custom Jim Grandt one-piece rod designed to fight White sharks.

In his story he finally caught one and fought it for close to 30 minutes before the shark spit the fly. Pretty amazing.

What is next?? a Humback Whale on a krill pattern?
