The new Bronco is going to be the real deal once they get it's first and second year bugs worked out. If you have seen the deeper specs, it's really set up beautifully inside and out. Better than the last FJ and certainly better than any Jeep since forever.

That being said, Ford used to own Land Rover before they sold to Jag / Tata.

This truck is as close to an American styled Defender 90 you'll probably ever see. What you are seeing is pretty much a discount D90. It's not as capable as a true stock D90, but it's looking real good compared to most of the crap put out today.

The fact that it's body-on-frame with a solid rear axle, independent front suspension, oversize wheels & 35" tires WITH A 7 SPEED MANUAL! That's just awesome.

The only thing I wish they'd offer is a V8 in addition to the 2.7 Turbo V-6. Base is a lame arse 2.3 Eco 4-cyl (yuck).

My old D90 had the 5.0 V8 and it absolutely ripped. Should have never sold it. It'd be worth $100 - 150K now.

That being said, I would buy this new Bronco starting year 3. Ford nailed this one.

(PS: Arvid - pretty much everything has a plastic grill since the mid-80's - it's not just recent thing or a Ford thing).
