Word from the NCAA backroom is that the actual larger threat to CFB isn't Covid. It's the collective bargaining power these kids are starting to wield. As of last year, they can now be paid for their likeliness (video games, jerseys etc). Now with Covid, the star players are getting together across different teams and making player demands. They've been having player Zoom calls and put out a short list of demands / statements. The NCAA and all AD's are terrified of this.

So...blame the cancelled season on Covid, prevent the players from making further demands; stop any further collective bargaining power in it's tracks and keep the status quo in place (money flowing into the right pockets...which isn't the players).

It's always all about money. Actual health concerns and player safety will always be secondary to money. This is the American way.

Chit, the city of Tuscaloosa Alabama stands to lose over $2 billion in lost revenues just from cancelling a single Bama football season. Whole towns, universities and sportsball programs are going to be wiped off the map because of this.
