The idea of buying a spey outfit and then going out to fish with it with out some kind of instruction is not the way to go. Lessons is what is needed. You just didn't pick up a single hander and have a go at it without somebody telling you or giving you some pointers. With a spey rod it is a whole new ball game. One that I couldn't play right with. But I'm happy on the way that I didn't go.
