I'm just getting back into the steelhead/salmon fishing. Hit it hard and heavy about 15 years ago then we(wife and I) started in on developing a small hatchery of wild metalhead children. Obviously the fry's turned into a smolts, and one of the smolt turned into teenage hen adult (1 of the two is still a male smolt). It took awhile for me to get back into the type of fishing that I dearly love due to the raising of my two fingerlings- Yada, yada, yada.............
Back then, we used a simple 8-10 lbs.leader(approx. 3') with a loop hook (size 6/7) and a three way swivel. Tied about 8" of line to a slinky 1/4 oz. weight or lead with surgical tubbing around the weight. Bait was mostly cured roe or shrimp.
I realize that the fish have'nt changed over the years but have wondered if the riggings and techniques have changed over the years? Any tips on certain riggings and techniques that work best for the bank fisherman, drifting or sleds? Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks.
