SG there are those who serve and those who choose not to but we take the oath for sure but few fight for that in a real sense. To say the troops who fight in wars is about the constitution is a real reach. Most fight for the nation but a better way to say it is the american people. When [Bleeeeep!] flies you fight for your guys your unit just so all survive. In my three years of service after being sworn in never did I hear fight for the constitution. For country, for freedom, against communism to keep the world safe ( which was a true load of BS ) many things but never the that piece of paper. The ideals in it yes but never the political views many attached to it. A picture of the president is in every units head quarters as the president is the cammander in chief. From the bottom to the top you follow the chain of command and in Nam Westmoreland missed it. Stormin Norman got it right Iraq as did Jack Keane later but always this american values are not those of most of the world. Those who serve do get it and soldiers pray thier leader does also. We have had a series of presidents who put our troops in harms way fighting foolish wars for what? The present one seems to hate war and in my view is to hate war is far better than send our kids to get thier bodies blown to bits for nothing.

In the end SG you might be right but at the moment I think not. Spending billions of $$ and thousands of lives is the way many administrations of both parties have operated. I am up to letting a new approach be tried and retiring those who think the only way to do things is getting our kids killed. Time to try something different.
