Being somewhat of a curmudgeon, or fossil, I prefer the printed page especially in the field. It seems that the dependence on social media will leave WDFW open to legal challenges if you have to have a phone to connect with them.

There have also been some instances in other states where poor social media information led guys to hunt or fish in closed areas.

The downside of depending on paper is that the agency can't be nimble. Back in early Boldt at least WDF tried to mange sport fisheries in season, based on updates, current catch, shifts in allocation, and a myriad of other things. That failed big time because weekly changes were simply too difficult to communicate. That was why the rec seasons tend to be fixed pre-season, and probably fairly conservative.
