Maybe the Rossi - Gregoire election smelled rotten to some voters, but that doesn't mean that is was. Just like some election deniers (2020) actually believe Trump won, all kinds of audits and reviews have debunked allegations of fraud. In WA, investigators that included King 5 News, tried to track down every instance of alleged fraud statewide. In the end they came up with one Republican who voted twice. That's it; that was the extent of verified fraud.
I also don't understand why anyone wouldn't want elections to be fair, honest, and backed with integrity. Anyone other than Trump, of course. The guy is such a far gone megalomaniac that he cannot fathom that he could ever lose anything or ever be wrong. He is a sick man, yet he is the one with the nuclear codes. But I digress.
I also like in-person voting. It just feels right to me, probably because that's the way it was always done until changes were made around 25 or so years ago. Just because it has changed doesn't mean that it is any less accurate. Problems with mail in voting have been alleged, but none have been specifically identified or proven. The WA state auditor keeps close tabs on state elections, and the complaints have always been debunked. WA elections are monitored by representatives of both major political parties, and I'm confident that one would howl if they saw anything improper.
I never mail my ballot. I always take it to a drop box. They're pretty secure unless you have a lot of dynamite.
