I lean towards natural in clear water. Just fish fresh eggs in a little borax.

One thought I'd like some comment on is the chemical scent that the commercial dyes leave on eggs. For example Pro-glo. Bob's recipe also leaves this scent to a degree and though the eggs hold excellent color it is bothersome to have that smell on the eggs. it's a confidence thing I guess but in steelhead fishing it's all about confidence. He hints at the use of oils in the cure but I don't want a shrimp smell on my steelhead eggs...I want a natural egg smell.

are there some good egg scent additives available to offset the chemical smell produced by commercial dyes? This chemical smell issue is one I see seldom addressed.
