Hey Catcher ... while the rigging I've got pictured int he float fishing section of the site uses split shot, I've more recently been adding an inline slinky (lenght / shot size varies) about four feet above the float and then just using a small shot or two below that to keep the offering down rather than swirling a lot.

There's nearly as many ways to rig these as there are options for drift rigs (some like to suspend their offering, others like to basically bounce bottom below a float, and so on), so find a style you like to fish and stick with it! They work, and it's something we use A LOT of when the water gets down in the rivers out this way like we've seen this year, in fact, most of the pics you've seen off the Quillayute system are all float-caught fish.
