I have used Maptech's "terrain navigator" for hunting, hiking and fishing and I have been able to add info to the program. You can customize maps as to scale so you can use your UTM cards to pinpoint your locations, and it is fairly user friendly. They have a demo that you can download on their website. I got mine a few years back, the "westport" and "san juan" cds, and they cover most of Western Washington.

Only issue I have with it isn't the program, it's my printer. You have to print multiple maps to cover an area of any usefull size.

Have fun with the new toy and remember that Costco has those 48 packs of AA batteries, you'll need 'em. andy
